The Adopt-A-Precinct (AAP) program is a community partnership that began in 1998. The program allows organizations to serve their community, fundraise, and is a great team-building experience.
Participating organizations “adopt” a precinct, or several precincts, during an election by providing the people to staff the polling place for that precinct. The Supervisor of Elections then writes a check to the organization, rather than paying the individual workers.
On average, an organization can earn up to $1,605 per adopted precinct, per election, starting in 2020. Your organization can earn more by recruiting back-up workers that can be sent to other precincts as needed.
Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. are two of our veteran partners. Over the years, Zeta Phi Beta has adopted precincts in 16 elections, and Phi Beta Sigma has adopted precincts in 10 elections. In 2016, they earned over $36,000 by staffing many precincts in three countywide elections. The funds they raise go toward college scholarships awarded to students every summer.
