Orange County, FL (July 10, 2024) – As hundreds of poll workers undergo training ahead of the 2024 Primary and General Elections, the Orange County Supervisor of Elections is proud to partner with Florida-based Seacoast Bank to offer free courses in cybersecurity including malware, phishing, and spyware for all poll workers.

The training, incorporated into the mandatory training for poll workers, is designed to provide an open discussion about the various cyber threats active today. According to the FBI between 2018 and 2022 there were more than 3.2 million complaints regarding cyberattacks with losses totaling more than $27 billion.

“While the training our poll workers undergo is designed to get them ready for the upcoming elections, we consider it an honor to be able to offer this course as well so that each poll worker will leave here better prepared to identify and protect themselves from cyber threats,” said Orange County Supervisor of Elections Glen Gilzean.

The presentation by Seacoast Bank covers the most common types of fraud, and warning signs, while also empowering poll workers with ways to protect themselves and report suspicious activity. The bank committed to providing this free training to poll workers through the end of July.

"Seacoast Bank is committed to protecting our customers and communities. Our information security team continuously tracks the cybersecurity landscape, and when appropriate, shares their expert insights with local partners, such as the Orange County Supervisor of Elections,” said Shane Rolland, Chief Information Security Officer for Seacoast Bank.
