When To File

The DS/DE 9, Appointment of Campaign Treasurer and Designation of Campaign Depository and the DS/DE 84, Statement of Candidate, can be filed at any time prior to the qualifying period. 

For candidates for

  • The federal office
  • The state attorney
  • The public defender
  • The judicial office
 the qualifying period is from noon of the 120th day prior to the primary election, but not later than noon of the 116th day prior to the primary election.

For candidates for

  • state office
  • multicounty district office
  • county office
  • school board office
  • any other district office

the qualifying period is from noon of the 71st day prior to the primary election, but not later than noon of the 67th day prior to the primary election.

Candidates for municipal offices should check with their city clerk for municipal qualifying dates.
